Dangerous sound levels

The intensity of sound is called the sound pressure level and is measured in decibels (dB).

Normal conversation is measured at around

50 -70 dB.

Motorcycle, car, leaf blower, lawn mower

85 - 90 dB

Chainsaw, firecrackers 1

100 - 110dB

Rock concert, disco

110 - 125db

Pneumatic drill, jet engine at take-off

119 - 140dB
