Hearing Tests

A full hearing assessment with Leightons will take approximately
60-90 minutes. It involves a thorough lifestyle consultation,
a discussion regarding the health of your hearing, and an
examination of your hearing, using advanced audiometric procedures
and video otoscopy. A report detailing the results of
the hearing test, with an audiogram and any recommendations,
will be provided at the end of the assessment.
Existing users should bring their hearing aids and wear them
during the assessment; we will happily provide you with advice
about hearing and technical checks, including a Live Speech
Mapping demonstration. If necessary, we can normally
arrange for hearing aid
repairs to most digital hearing aids.
All Leightons Hearing Aid Audiologists are registered under the
Hearing Aid Council Act 1968 and are members of the British society
of Hearing Aid Audiologists
Consultation process, assessment and hearing test:
. Background history to the loss
. Lifestyle implications.
. Otoscopic examination (of the external canal and tympanic
membrane)
. Determining the level of hearing loss - The Hearing Test
. Explanation of the audiogram (a graphic record of hearing
ability for various sound frequencies).
. Hearing health report
If a hearing loss is identified, we offer a free hearing aid
demonstration as standard practice. This will allow you
to compare different models, understand the benefits of hearing
with two hearing aids and simulate different listening
environments.
For total peace of mind, we also provide a thirty-day, full
money back guarantee on all our digital hearing aids.
We always recommend that you are accompanied during the hearing
assessment so that you can measure the improvement of a familiar
voice during any demonstration carried out, and have support
for any decision you might make.
