My first contact with Leightons was after they took over from Tony Stevens Opticians in 2005 and I have been with them for glasses since. Checks on eyesight every two years, to date. The service they have provided has been professional and considerate throughout and from all staff.
From NHS hearing aids to Leightons
I have suffered from tinitus for a long time, and started with one then two analogue NHS hearing aids. They helped, but in a crowded room, I found that I could hear people’s conversations over the other side of the room, but not so clearly the person in directly in front of me.
After having my eyes checked in 2007, I was aware that Leightons were now carrying out free audio checks, so decided to have my hearing checked. The hearing aid audiologist explained how the tests would be carried out, and then explained the results in an audiogram, and showing on the computer and the difference between both my ears.
New Digital Hearing Aids 2007
I was prescribed a pair of OTICON, which I believe had 6 channels for noise block processing. This improved what I could hear from someone in front of me, but with still some interference from background noise.
New Digital Hearing Aids 2009
Leightons put on an open day, displaying the latest hearing aids at that time, and after having my hearing assessment, I tried two new hearing aids recommended to me.
A pair of Phonak Audeo Yes, which have 20 channels of noise block processing.
I also have the use of an additional pilot to increase the volume, change programme for telephone, speech in noise, music, and a directional zoom. The new Phonak Audeo Yes, have helped me hear better than before.
