"The whole experience was very enlightening."
I was advised by my daughter to go to Leightons to see what could be done. I discussed my visit with my family. The visit could not have been a morewarm and welcoming atmosphere; the assessment was very detailed and informative. I did not feel frightened, maybe a little apprehensive. I was offered a trial hearing aid with no pressure to buy. The whole experience was very enlightening. Whilst serving in the Royal Marines it came to my notice that I was having difficulty hearing conversations close by. I was then about 40 years of age; it was a further 8 years before I saw my doctor who referred me to the NHS. Having used an NHS aid, I found the service very slow as when I had to return the aid because of a fault, it was six weeks before it was returned to me and a second time, two months. When I needed a replacement I was informed that there was a waiting time of 3 years, therefore I knew I couldn’t wait without an aid for so long, hence my appointment with Leightons.
"At parties and gatherings I can hear others clearly."
I did expect a bigger aid and was pleasantly surprised when it was small and neat. The aid could not be seen and is very comfortable, so much so, that a few times while having a shower I nearly forgot to remove it. Sound quality is very good, coping well with background and sudden noises. I find the ease of use etc, excellent. I can hear the television much clearer and all that is going on around me at the same time. At parties and gatherings I can hear others clearly. Convenience of appointments at Leightons are excellent with assistance only a telephone call away. Its very good being able to have free batteries and aftercare. I am extremely delighted all round.
